What are you looking for in the Martial Arts?

Many people don't know exactly what to expect when they come to our school. To many, karate classes mean lots of evil looking people in funny pajamas, punching each other and breaking boards and things with their feet! Hopefully, the days of the dark dungeon dojos are in the past - but too many schools stray away from an overly disciplined heritage to what Master John Graden calls "Pooh Bear" schools.

Our Woodstock Mixed Martial Arts program is both a fun and demanding program that trains students that hard work is an important part of life. The things that come too easy are often the least valued. Setting appropriate goals and working towards those goals is the heart of our belt program. Belts are not given, but earned - and our unique rotating curriculum makes sure that students don't learn a technique for a test and forget it a week later!

Our school is a little different than most, a little brighter, a lot more fun - and our students really learn both when and how to protect themselves. Stop by today and watch a class, ask some questions.

The Schulenburg Family Mixed Martial Arts of Woodstock

The Little Dragons Program!

The Little Dragons Program at Woodstock Mixed Martial Arts is an exciting class for children ages 3 - 5 years old. This class meets once a week for 30 minutes and sessions run from 6 to 8 weeks. We're always welcoming new students, so give Carolyn Schulenburg a call today, find out more about the current schedule.

Our Little Dragons are amazingly cute - and quite good at learning the very basics of the Mixed Martial Arts. We have a variety of Foundation Skills including different punches, blocks and kicks - and we really emphasize when and where these new techniques are appropriate to use. Kids also learn a variety of observational and safety skills as well as the technique that Master Kurt Schulenburg calls the "Most Effective Martial Arts Skill of All Time": the friendly handshake!

It's not just about the punch...it's also sitting so nicely!

These days it's a little too easy for our youngest children to spend too much time sitting - whether it's video games or television, many kids just don't get up and run around the way they should. Our program not only gets the kids up on their feet, it teaches them how much fun it is to move, to run and jump, to set physical challenges for themselves that can lead to a life long interest in staying in healthy shape.

Knee up - Front Kick!Too much fun!
